The Italian Association of Leather Chemists organized the 52nd AICC National Conference on the latest developments in the leather industry on “New Frontiers in Leather Production”.
The AICC Italian Association of Leather Chemists held its national conference on May 17th, which took place in the leather region of Arzignano and featured five speakers. The sector analyzed the pre and post-Covid period, highlighting that 2019 is above last year’s figure and according to the trend of the first 4 months, a further increase should be seen in 2024.
Ralph Günther Blach and Fabio Lupi from Stahl took part in the conference as keynote speakers on “Hyperfunctional Polycarbodiimide Crosslinkers for Aqueous Leather Coatings”.
Giulio Galiotto from Erretre, among the speakers on “Milling as a Control Tool”, said: “Milling takes place between the wet stage and the finishing stage. This control has become strategic and fundamental to guarantee a perfect final result”
Luca Ramadori from Arco with a talk on “Biocide Transition Study”.
“There are basically five innovative aspects,” said engineer Gianni Maitan from Gemata in his talk on “Nuova Finishing Technology with Release Paper for Polished and Glazed Leathers”: The use of the roller machine, the absence of emissions to the atmosphere, the reduction of water and energy consumption, the use of infrared ovens and the size of the system.”
“In this historic period, leather production is a priority now and sustainability is the focus and preparing the sector for the future, while respecting the environment,” said Riccardo Pasquale from GSC Group, the keynote speaker on the theme “The Use of Bio-Based Products – Assessment and LCA Evaluation for the Future of Leather Production.” The conference featured five speakers on the future of the leather sector.
